A common misconception about weight loss programs is that you’ll spend 10 hours per day on a treadmill and be rewarded with tiny, bland meals that leave you starving. Nothing could be further from the truth! What makes fitness travel holidays so popular is the careful attention to detail which usually includes amazing and healthy food. Our main focus is to provide you with knowledge on how to eat properly for your body, whilst actively targeting your personal weight loss goals through fitness training, Yoga and stretching. We call this our Turbo Weight Loss Retreat. This program is for those looking for a quick introduction into a Wellness Retreat and wanting to kick start a more healthy lifestyle. You’ll get a feel for what your body and mind is capable of with some dedicated time away from your normal life. Let someone else take care of your meals, schedule and be guided by our Wellness Team. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated and in the right mindset to continue your weight loss journey. 

7 day Weight Loss Retreat

In general we recommend at least 7 days for guests to see weight loss  results during their time at Shanti-Som. By day 5 you will start to see and feel a change in your body, some stubborn weight may start to shed. It won’t just be your body that you notice improving. With a combination of regular yoga, relaxation, nutritious food and sunshine, our guests start to look and feel better with improved skin, brighter eyes and relaxed bodies. Most importantly, feeling happier and motivated by their achievements. 

10 day Weight Loss Retreat

For those who are serious about establishing good lifestyle routines and seeing results, we recommend a 10 day Retreat to allow your body to adjust and build strength. After 10 days your body will have adjusted to the change in diet as well as a new exercise routine. Not only will your body feel more energetic and lean, but you’ll be armed with the knowledge and relaxed state of mind to make real lifestyle changes. This is the best way to ensure the weight stays off and you embark on a healthier and happier way of life. 

14 day Weight Loss Retreat

As with anything, with consistency and time we reap the benefits of our hard work. This 14 day Fitness Retreat is for those who are looking to really blast off some weight. You may be taken outside of your comfort zone and pushed to whole new levels, to reach the health and fitness goals you want to achieve. The benefit of a 14 day program allows you the time and support to reach these goals. When you’re in such a peaceful environment and are following a planned schedule, you won’t be in your usual routine. By doing so, this will give you the chance to break your old habits and instead for new ones. Consistency and support is the key! 

How to Lose Weight Realistically

Hundreds of fad diets and weight-loss programs promise quick and easy weight loss. However, the foundation of successful weight loss remains a healthy, calorie-controlled diet combined with increased physical activity. For successful, long-term weight loss, you must make permanent changes in your lifestyle and health habits.

Firstly the desire needs to come from within. No one else can make you lose weight. You must undertake diet and exercise changes for yourself. It’s also important to have the right support system, so surround yourself with people who will encourage you in positive ways, without shame, embarrassment or sabotage. 

Reduce stubborn belly fat 

Belly fat typically forms from consuming too many calories, which causes weight gain. Weight usually ends up on our belly or hips and thighs based on one’s genetics, sex, and/or age. Certain other factors, like not getting enough sleep or being stressed can also raise your risk of developing more belly fat. 

Many women also notice an increase in belly fat as they get older — even if they aren’t gaining weight. This is likely due to a decreasing level of estrogen, which appears to influence where fat is distributed in the body.

To reduce belly fat: 

  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Replace sugary beverages
  • Keep portion sizes in check
  • Include physical activity in your daily routine. To lose excess fat and keep it from coming back, aim for slow and steady weight loss.

This is not a group boot camp, so our Retreats start on the day of your arrival! Your itinerary is tailor made to your personal goals and timeframe. 

Our results speak for themselves with guests typically losing between 2-10 kilograms in one Retreat. Your individual results may vary significantly depending on your body size, fitness level, age, gender, medical conditions, and other factors. 

Our Nutritionist and Chef work together to create a delicious seasonal weight loss menu. Eating healthy doesn’t mean simply getting bland salads and vegetables for your meals, you will be pleasantly surprised at the delicious cuisine you will be served. Be inspired by the meals you eat, healthy juices and the nutritional guidance you get will keep you motivated for a healthier lifestyle.

Retreat prices are calculated based on the length of your stay, and are specified above in our inclusions table. Nightly prices include accommodation however may vary depending on the room selection and the number of people staying (single or double occupancy).

    Audrey is Shanti-Som's resident Yoga Instructor. To be honest she's a lot more than that to our guests as she guides them on a journey of self discovery and awareness. Audrey believes in a holistic approach to wellness where physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are all connected. She hopes through the practice of Yoga, guests discover the best version of themselves, to live a more peaceful and joyful life, and to find the grace and kindness to be better to others. Audrey's genuine and personable nature sparks a lot of inspiration and motivation in her classes. As she comes up to her 3 year anniversary with Shanti-Som, we would like to say a big thank you to her for helping our guests discover a more happy, calm and confident way of being. 
Audrey loves spending time in nature and when not teaching Yoga she can be found hiking, camping or travelling.

Tina says that she loves to be in nature and when she came to Shanti-Som in 2016 for the very first time the first thing she thought: Oh wow, that nature here!
